How do fundraisers work?

Can you answer Anastasia’s Mommy’s question about Fundraising?:

I would like to start a fundraiser for a specific cause and donate the total amount in one lump sum. To do this would I need to start a bank account? I really have no experience running fundraisers, only participating in them.

If someone could help me out I would appreciate it!
I just wanted the whole lump sum to go to a specific charity and not send it in small parts - thats why I was asking.

Fundraising Feedback: you set up an account at the bank
    say it is non-profit
you may need officers: president, vice pres, treas, secretary
you may need a tax id.

or if you are truely legit, you can send or deposit directly to charity

Fundraising Feedback: First is to contact the nonprofit org you wish to support. You need written permission to hold fundraisers in that charities name. You cannot open a bank acct specifically for that charity. Only if you start your own non profit do you need an acct. Check out your State Tax Dept. website for info on non profits
